It is at the core of the Josephite way of life to be involved with the everyday issues of the ordinary people with whom they live. The willingness of the early Sisters and today’s Josephites to travel to where the need is and to live in the midst of those in need ensures their capacity to respond as required.
The ways of being involved are many and varied. There are formal groupings called Associates who share the Josephite spirit and there are many others who share in the Josephite ministries.
In many of the Josephite ministries there are dedicated and highly qualified staff who approach the task with a passion for ministry rather than simply carrying out an occupation.
Various structures and programs have been set up to provide ongoing formation and support for staff members so that their understanding and appreciation of the MacKillop spirit can further develop such as:
The Josephite colloquium is a program that provides, for teachers and other professionals who are carrying on the educational and health care ministries of the Sisters, various processes.

This structure provides leadership training for the student leaders in the AJASS schools to help develop the MacKillop spirit in these young people. They hold a JJAMM week in their own schools whee the agreed focus is shared with the whole school.
Many of the major ministries have become incorporated bodies to provide visible structures into the future. The directors who serve voluntarily on the Boards of these, ministries bring a passion and commitment, as well as their experience and knowledge, to the work which, in turn gives life to the ministry.
