Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre, as a ministry of the Sisters of St Joseph, welcomes the participation of volunteers in the following ways:
- Guiding visitors and guests through the Mary MacKillop Museum
- Assisting in the gift shop
- Providing hospitality in the refreshments area
- Assisting with school and parish groups
- Leading pilgrims on local Mary MacKillop walking pilgrimages
- Maintaining the grounds at the birthsite of Blessed Mary MacKillop in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.

MacKillop Family Services – Melbourne and Geelong, Victoria
Volunteers don’t need to have “special skills”. They do, however, have big hearts, with enough room for compassion for those in need, and the drive to help kids and families in tough times or who are suffering from bad choices — not always their own.

Volunteers are essential contributors to MacKillop's goal of "Building Community", and they support the work of MacKillop Family Services in many ways:
- giving support and friendship to adults and children
- opening their own homes to care for children or adolescents
- offering practical and emotional support to families with a child with a disability
- providing childcare and driving assistance
- working alongside staff in education services
- staffing op-shops
- helping in administration
- serving on committees and the Board of Directors

Joseph’s Corner –Melbourne, Victoria
A not-for-profit support and counseling service for family members, friends and carers of those with alcohol and drug addiction: Volunteers are required at all three Joseph’s Corner sites: Yarraville, Laverton and Hoppers Crossing. Their role includes: reception desk, welcoming clients, providing refreshments, administration, working in the ‘op shop, some maintenance and ‘odd jobs’.
